Answering the Wrong Questions

Why does everyone makes more than I do?

Comparing yourself with other people is dangerous. It’s hardly productive so say that comparisons shouldn’t be done because it’s practically impossible to resist. But at the very least, the comparison should be sound and precise such that no wrong conclusions could be made. A good starting point is to sieve through a the initial population of the sample to make sure that these are all individuals to which comparison is not absurd.

For starters, it doesn’t make sense to compare with people across different trades. Product Managers have a different salary range than Financial Analysts. It also doesn’t make sense to compare people in the same trade that are in different tenures.

Why wasn’t I capable of achieving more?
